BJAREBYITE    Plume Mine, N. Groton, NH
2.5 mm forrest-green bjarebyite crystaline group. Gorceixite in foreground.
Species:           BJAREBYITE
Locality:          Plume Mine, N. Groton, NH
Specimen Size: 2.5 mm forrest-green bjarebyite crystaline group. Gorceixite in foreground.
Field Collected: Bob Wilken
Catalog No.: u1052
Notes: An initial EDS analysis of these small crystals suggested perloffite,
BaMn2+2Fe3+2(PO4)3(OH)3 was "the best match" to the EDS analyst. The moderate Al peak in the plot gives rise to some uncetainty. Perhaps some Al is substituting for the Fe, or this mineral is another member of the bjarebyite group, (bjarebyite or kulanite), that contain Al, but have some Fe <-> Mn substitution going on.
A July, 2013 more accurate WDS analysis on a polished grain sample demonstrated this specimen is bjarebyite.
